This is a new program with one Hospitalist at present and adding the second person. The work is daytime only and shares call with other Internists in the community on a 1:7 basis for night coverage. Actually getting called at night is rare as the fully staffed Emergency Medicine Department admits at night. Only the more complicated cases would require a Hospitalist’s attention after hours. Average total inpatient census is 13 to 15 patients some of whom are followed by the physicians in the community. The new schedule will be determined by the Hospitalists but the hospital would like to go to 7-days per week coverage with shifts. This is a salaried position through the hospital and comes with a generous benefit package. Salary is in the $200,000. 00 range. The hospital will entertain applications from both Internal Medicine and Family Practice physicians as long as the physicians are comfortable managing patients in the ICU.
This position is located in a rural setting with medium sized cities within 30 minutes. Major metro areas are about 3 hours away for more sophisticated entertainment and shopping. The area is well loved for its access to downhill and cross country skiing, hiking, biking, hunting, fishing and other outdoor activities. There is an alliance with a major University Hospital for consults and other resources.
